Doing good, feeling good…

Like many of us, we have all been affected by the big C. Either the loss of loved ones, or family and friends that have battled, or could be battling now. Everyday this February, I’m climbing on my surf board for SurFebruary and raising funds for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. Your donations support services and programs for people with cancer. They drive innovation in research, improve care, and provide equal access to all our services for everyone.

Hands Up

Wednesday 24th Feb
Hands up, if you have enjoyed surfing every day in February.
I know I have really enjoyed the process and have found at times, it has made me look at things a little different.
The process of capturing each surf and giving it some thought as to why we are doing this, has really made me realise how lucky I am. To not only be a surfer, but to have at this time of life, relatively decent health. Each day is a gift.

Wednesday 10th Feb
Love this little wave, though it is temperamental and needs all the elements to line up, it is a goofy foots favourite. It has given me some of the funnest moments and I have shared epic sessions with my kids and the local crew out here. It was also the spot that gave me my scariest wipeout and heaviest surfing experience and injury back in 2009. It just so happens, that further up the reef ,there is a little jump off spot, where my sister and I ( wife and kids) sprinkled our mums / grandmas ashes into the ocean after she lost her 2nd battle with oesophageal cancer. 

DAY 3

Wednesday 3rd Feb
Well, the swell had jumped slightly overnight and with a wafting southerly and need to get to work, it was a quick strike. Overcast, weedy and a couple of local groms out for the early.
If you look closely, the poor kid in the rocks, is picking up the front of his snapped board from a mishap with a dredger. Had a couple with the lads, before I was left solo out in the rip, waiting for a decent one. Nothing better for the soul than to sit solo in the ocean I reckon. Day 3 . Surfebruary
